SIGNIFICANT INVESTOR STREAM

General Requirements

If you apply for the Significant Investor Stream, you must:

• Age: There is no age limit for this visa, but applicants must be able to demonstrate that they have the required skills and experience to make a significant investment in Australia.
• Investment: Applicants must make a minimum investment of AUD $5 million in an eligible investment over a four-year period.
• Nomination: Applicants must be nominated by an Australian state or territory government agency before they can apply for the visa.
• Net assets: Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they have a net worth of at least AUD $5 million that has been legally acquired and can be transferred to Australia.
• English language: Applicants must meet the English language requirements specified by the Department of Home Affairs.
• Health and character: Applicants and their family members must meet the health and character requirements specified by the Department of Home Affairs.
• Genuine intention: Applicants must have a genuine intention to reside in the state or territory that nominated them and must provide evidence of their commitment to living in Australia.

• Invitation to apply: If your EOI is successful, you will receive an invitation to apply for the Significant Investor Visa.
• Nomination: Before you can apply for the visa, you must be nominated by a state or territory government agency. The nomination process involves providing detailed information about your proposed investment and your business and personal background.

• Application process:
• Gather documents: Before you can apply for the visa, you will need to gather a range of documents, including proof of your identity, evidence of your net worth, evidence of your investment, and evidence of your English language proficiency.
• Lodge your application: Once you have gathered all the necessary documents, you can lodge your application online through the Department of Home Affairs.
• Health and character checks: As part of the application process, you and your family members will need to undergo health and character checks to ensure that you meet the requirements for entry into Australia.
• Decision: The Department of Home Affairs will assess your application and make a decision on whether to grant you the Significant Investor Visa. If your application is successful, you will be issued a visa that allows you to live and work in Australia for up to four years.
• Apply for permanent residency: After holding the Significant Investor Visa for four years, you may be eligible to apply for permanent residency through the Business Innovation and Investment (Permanent) visa (subclass 888).
